It will be a Merry Christmas for the Grand Canyon University women's basketball team.
In its final game until a Dec. 30 road contest at Incarnate Word, Grand Canyon (4-7) defeated North Dakota State 69-54 at GCU Arena Sunday.
It was the Lopes second win in their last three games, with the loss coming to No. 10 Louisville.
Three players scored in double figures, led by a career-best 13 from sophomore center
Tori Morris. Sophomore
Astrea Reed had a double-double with 10 points and a career-best 11 rebounds. Junior
Courtney Hayes had a double-double with 12 points and a career-best 10 rebounds.

Grand Canyon got off to a strong start. After North Dakota State scored the first two points, GCU went on a 10-0 run. It also had an 8-0 run in the first 20 minutes and led 37-19 at the half. The 19 points were the least by an opponent in one half this season.
North Dakota got within 10 in the second half, but the Lopes never relinquished the lead. GCU shot a season-best 43.3 percent from the field. It was the seventh time in 11 games GCU has held an opponent to 60 points or less. The Lopes lead the Western Athletic Conference in scoring defense at 59.9 points per game. GCU outscored NDSU 38-23 in the paint and 23-7 off turnovers. Led by Reed, the Antelope bench outscored the Bison subs 30-15.

Casey Rarrick added a career-best eight points. Freshman forward
Mikaehla Connor, in her first start since Nov. 29, had seven points, one shy of her career-best, and added four rebounds. The 18-point halftime lead was the Lopes largest of the game.The win also marked GCU's first over North Dakota State. NDSU won the three previous meetings played at the Division II level.
