Anguiano Picks Up Four Wins
Finishing with an impressive 41-0 win over MSU Moorhead, Grand Canyon went 2-2 at the Fourth Annual Grand Canyon University Duals at Antelope Gymnasium Saturday.
"All in all, I'm proud the guys finished strong. Still, as a group, we have to be more consistent," said coach R.C. LaHaye.
Opening the morning with a 34-9 win over Simon Fraser, GCU dropped consecutive matches to California Baptist (27-15) and Colorado Mesa (25-12).
"We started well and finished well," added LaHaye. "We let down in the two duals (in the middle). I'm proud of the effort we put in at the end."
Redshirt-junior heavyweight Peter Anguiano was the lone 4-0 wrestler on the day. He picked up three decisions and one forfeit.
"It's good to see Peter hit his stride after being injured. He's getting back to his old self," said LaHaye. Anguiano is now 10-7 on the season.
GCU's dual meet record is 4-3.
