Dance Announces Team For 2013-14

The Grand Canyon University dance team has announced the 2013-14 squad after hosting tryouts on April 19th and 20th.
The tryouts are an extensive two-day process where applicants are evaluated and judged on strength and conditioning, dance technique, and various choreography. Applicants are also interviewed and evaluated on character, presence, and personal recommendations.
“It was extremely exciting to see the level of interest and talent that was displayed at this year’s tryout,” said Director of Spirit Programs, Emily Stephens.
Head dance coach Jacque Genung-Koch added, “Arizona has some of the most talented dancers in the country, and we are proud to say GCU is attracting those young women. This is an extremely talented, well-rounded team who will represent the university at the Division I level very well.”
Out of 42 applicants, a program-high for tryouts, 14 members were selected for the team. The team will follow a set work-out regime during the summer and begin official practices on August 9.
