GCU Dance commemorates winning its 1st UDA Division I Jazz national title
Months after making program history on the national stage, the Grand Canyon University Dance Team had another reason to celebrate — this time, with championship rings in hand.
The GCU Dance team gathered for its annual Ring Party to celebrate an unforgettable 2025-26 season, highlighted by the team capturing its first-ever UDA Division I Jazz national championship in Orlando, Florida, as well as another national championship in Game Day LIVE at the January competition.
The historic Jazz title came from the Lopes' performance to "What's Up?" by 4 Non Blondes. The Jazz championship ring features accents of gold inspired by the dripping gold details seen on the dancers' faces and costumes throughout the routine, forever tying the ring back to the performance that made program history with an event score of 95.8667.
The two championships were also part of a remarkable five national titles earned by GCU Spirit Programs in 2026.
For GCU Dance, finally placing those rings on their fingers made the accomplishments feel even more special. From winning GCU's first UDA Division I Jazz title to becoming Game Day LIVE national champions once again, the Ring Party celebrated the hard work, people and moments that made the season unforgettable.
Above all, the night was a testament to God's glory and His faithfulness throughout the journey. From the biggest moments to the smallest details, His hand was present every step of the way, beautifully orchestrating a season that became so much more than championships. The team remains eternally grateful for His faithfulness and for a season that will forever hold a special place in GCU Dance Team history.
