GCU Loses To No. 14 Loyola

Grand Canyon dropped to 14-12 overall and 5-7 in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association with a 3-0 loss to No. 14 Loyola-Chicago at Gentile Arena in Chicago Thursday.
The Antelopes lost by set sores of 25-16, 25-16, 25-21. There were 11 ties and seven lead changes in the third set.
GCU was led by senior Jordon Tarantino with 13 kills and three block assists. Tarantino had 13 kills and nine digs in Wednesday’s match against the Ramblers.
“Jordon Tarantino had a really good two-match stretch,” said GCU coach Jeremy Price. “If he can maintain that level, we’ll be able to do some good things.”
GCU has four matches remaining and all will be at GCU. The Antelopes host a two-match non-conference series with St. Francis (PA) April 5-6 and finish the season against MIVA-foe Lindenwood April 11, 13.
Ben Hunt had six kills and a .294 attack percentage to go with five digs. Senior libero Trent Bruns had nine digs. Setter Keith Smith had 31 assists, while Connor Dougherty, Christian Ward joined Tarantino with three block assists.
