The Grand Canyon University baseball team dropped their Pacific West Conference season-finale today, 10-0, to Dixie State at Bruce Hurst Field in St. George, Utah.
With the loss, GCU falls to 26-22 overall, 23-17 in the PacWest. Dixie improved to 29-17 overall and 25-15 in the league. Dixie State, with the win, secured sole possession of second place for the season in the PacWest.
Grand Canyon starting pitcher, Coltin White (5-3), was roughed up for seven runs (six earned) on four hits over 1.2 innings.
After pounding out 32 hits in the first three-games of the series, the Antelopes were only able to muster two hits in the game, tying a season low.
P.J. Garcia singled in the seventh inning and Aaron Mees in the eighth for GCU.
Cody Repenning pitched 2.1 scoreless innings of relief, while Sam Moore pitched a scoreless eighth.
Grand Canyon will wrap-up their season with single games on May 4 and 5 at UC San Diego. UCSD was No.2 in the recently released NCAA West Region poll that determines the postseason teams from the region. The game on Friday is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., with Saturday’s first pitch at noon.
