The Grand Canyon University men's and women's track and field teams are slated to compete in the UTEP Invitational tomorrow in El Paso, Texas. The meet will be held at Kidd Field with field events scheduled to get underway at 9 a.m. and running events starting at 2 p.m. Arizona time.
Among the teams competing in the meet are Rice, Arkansas, New Mexico State, Kansas, Kansas State, Nebraska, Boise State, New Mexico and Abilene Christian.
The 'Lopes own a number of top marks among Division II athletes so far in the outdoor season. On the men's side,
Dominique Hubert has the fastest time in the in the 100-meter dash with 10.38 seconds, while
Vince Frawley owns the top pole vault in the nation with a mark of 5.20 meters (17 feet, three-fourths inches).
For the women,
Shavine Hodges has the fastest time in the 100-meter dash with 11.64 seconds, while the 4x100-meter relay squad of
Brianne Kee,
Ann-Marie Duffus,
Petra Fanty and Hodges own the top time with 45.70 seconds.
Following the first four meets of the outdoor season, the 'Lopes have collected four automatic qualifiers and 56 provisional marks as
AAron Hill (long jump), Frawley (pole vault), Duffus (long jump) posted automatic marks in her respective events.
