Grand Canyon University’s Kipkorir Mutai has been named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association 2011 Division II Men’s Cross Country All-Academic Team.
Mutai, a nursing major, was the only runner from the Pacific West Conference to be given this honor by the coaches association. In order to be eligible, the association requires that student-athletes have a minimum 3.25 cumulative grade point average and have finished in the top 50 at the NCAA Championships or the top 30 of an NCAA Regional Championship. Mutai placed 27th individually at the NCAA West Region Qualifier with a 10K time of 32:15.0.
Mutai was runner-up at the 2011 Pacific West Conference Championship and was named All-PacWest First Team for his performance.
