'Lopes Fall in Opening Round of the NCAA's

The Grand Canyon University women’s tennis team was defeated, 5-0, to Hawai’i Pacific in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament at Central Oahu Regional Park in Honolulu, Hawai’i.
The women close out the season with a 16-5 overall record, with three of those losses coming from the Sea Warriors.
HPU opened quickly with a sweep of the doubles round. Cecilia Vergnet and Frederique Van de Velde lost, 8-2, at No. 1 doubles to the seventh-ranked doubles team of Zora Vlckova and Celina Goetti . Katharina Mittag and Stephanie Haldeman dropped a tight match at No. 2 doubles, losing 8-5. Marie Vanlerenberghe and Kaila Knopf were even 3-3 in the No.3 doubles match, only to see HPU run off the final five games to win 8-3.
HPU’s 34th-ranked Celina Goetti earned the fourth point for the Sea Warriors, as she downed Haldeman, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. Mittag would later fall, 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 1 singles match, to close out the dual.
