The Grand Canyon University baseball team fell tonight, 13-6, to Cal State East Bay at Brazell Stadium in Phoenix.
The loss dropped GCU to 21-24 overall with two games remaining in the 2011 season. Cal State East Bay improved to 16-32 on the season.
East Bay started quickly scoring three unearned runs in the first off two Antelopes errors. The Pioneers added a run in the second and fourth innings to open up a 5-0 lead after four innings.
GCU got back into the game with two runs in the sixth inning on RBI singles by
Tyler Bair and
Kalab Evans.
After allowing a run in the seventh, the Antelopes cut the lead to 6-4 with two runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Jackie Samora had one out singles before
Tyler Kamtz lined a ball into the right-center gap for a two-run triple.
The Pioneers responded in the eighth with seven runs on five hits to close out their fifth road win of the season.
Brady Wager (5-6) started and took the loss for GCU. He allowed six runs (three earned) on eight hits over 7.0 innings. The ‘Lopes bullpen was touched for seven runs on five hits in 2.0 innings of work.
Bair and
R.J. Etchebarren led the Antelopes offense, each getting two hits on the evening.
Grand Canyon and Cal State East Bay will meet tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Brazell Stadium in the second game of this three-game set. The game can also be heard by going to GCULopes.com.
