The seventh-ranked Grand Canyon University wrestling team ran its win streak to 12 this evening and clinched at least a share of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference regular-season title, defeating No. 19 Fort Hayes State, 26-12, and Mesa State, 30-6, in Grand Junction, Colo.
Grand Canyon can win the conference crown outright with a win against the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colo. on Friday.
With the wins this evening, the Antelopes improved their dual record to 16-4, 8-0 in the RMAC.
GCU opened the night against Fort Hays State and couldn’t have asked for a better start.
Kyle Wilson shocked No. 5 Andre Harrison with an 8-4 win at 141, taking and early 3-0 lead.
After falling behind 6-3, No. 8
Ted Bristol tied up the match for GCU with a 4-0 decision at 157.
Fort Hays rebounded to take a 9-6 lead, but the match quickly swung in the favor of GCU.

Victor Carazo got things going with his 12-2 major decision win at 174. No. 7
Ryan Becerra stretched the lead to 13-9 with a tight 5-3 win at 184.
Eli Arizmendez put the dual out of reach, winning by fall at 1:53 at 197.

Madison Gambrell got the ‘Lopes back to their winning ways with an 11-2 major decision win at 125.
The most highly anticipated match of the dual closed out the proceedings, with No. 2
Todd Wilcox defeating No. 6 Aldon Isenberg, 6-2.
The nightcap was pure dominance for head coach R.C. LaHaye’s squad, winning eight of the 10 contested matches.
Wilson opened the match with a 6-0 win at 141, improving to 15-8 this season.
Mesa State would win the 149 and 157 bouts, the last time they would register a point on the scoreboard.
Mike Fucci rebounded from his earlier loss, picking up an 11-2 major decision win at 165 and giving the Antelopes a 7-6 lead, heading into the 174-184-197 gauntlet.
No. 4 Carazo won his 15th-straight match, eking out a 3-2 win, improving to 25-3 this season.
No. 7 Becerra collected his seventh win by fall this season and ran his record to 23-10, pinning Kyle Brightman at 3:46.
Arizmendez improved to 17-1 this season, easily winning 14-5.
The three wrestlers have now gone a combined 46-5 since Arizmendez joined the team on Jan. 1.
Peter Anguiano picked up his 14
th win of the season, owning a 7-4 decision in the heavyweight battle.
Gambrell continued his second half improvement, securing a 12-3 major decision win.
No.2 Wilcox extended his win streak to 13, closing out the night with a 4-1 win.
The team will pack up its bags and make the four-hour trek to Golden, Colo. in preparation for their final dual of the season, against the Colorado School of Mines.
On the horizon is the RMAC Championships that will be held in San Francisco, Calif. on Feb. 26-27.
