The Grand Canyon University wrestling team clinched the regular season Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference crown this evening with a 30-8 victory over the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colo.
Tonight’s win was the 13th-straight for the ‘Lopes and improved their overall dual record to 17-4 and a perfect 9-0 finish in the conference.
The ‘Lopes opened with a quick 5-0 lead when
Madison Gambrell won a dominating 15-0 technical fall win at 125 pounds.
After a win by forfeit at 133,
Kyle Wilson gave GCU a 14-0 dual lead with a tight 7-6 win over the Mines’ Cooper Newby.
The Antelopes saw their lead reduced to 14-8 after losses at 149 and 157.
Mike Fucci turned the dual back in favor of GCU, winning 3-2 at 165. With the win, Fucci improved to 20-9 on the season.

Victor Carazo followed with another impressive display, winning for the 16
th-straight time, this time 12-1 over Jake Wilson.
No. 7
Ryan Becerra followed with an 8-0 win and increased the Grand Canyon lead to 24-8.
Eli Arizmendez fought of a tough challenge at 197, winning 5-4 and running his overall record to 18-1.
The Antelopes are off until the RMAC/Region IV Championships in San Francisco, Calif. from Feb. 26-27.
