For the second straight week, Grand Canyon University senior guard
Samantha Murphy has been selected Pacific West Conference Player of the Week. The award was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, Monday, for games held Jan. 31-Feb. 6.
Murphy has won the award five times this season.
On Saturday, Murphy led No. 12 GCU to a 79-71 victory over No. 10 Dixie State. She had 38 points, 26 in the second half and 23 in the final 11 minutes. It was her second straight 38-point performance, improving her school-best career scoring total to 1,877 points.
She also had nine rebounds, seven assists and three steals. Murphy hit 9-of-17 field goals, including 4-of-9 from 3-point range and was 16-of-18 at the free-throw line.
Rosalyn Nelson and
Jallisa Butler were both named to the PacWest Women's Basketball Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll.
Nelson had 10 points, 11 assists -- one off her career-high -- four rebounds and two steals. Butler had 16 points and had four rebounds. She was 6-of-10 from the field and 4-of-4 at the line.
