Grand Canyon will look for its 10th win in its last 12 games when it plays host to Dominican University of California in a key Pacific West Conference game at Antelope Gymnasium 3:15 p.m. Saturday.
The Antelopes are 11-7 overall and 6-2 in the PacWest. GCU is in a three-way tie for second place in the PacWest with Chaminade and Dixie State. It is only one game behind league leader BYU-Hawai’i, which hosts Chaminade Friday night.
GCU defeated Dominican (3-18, 3-8) 68-60 in San Rafael, Calif. Jan. 22. The Penguins have won three of their last four games.
“Their record is very deceiving,” said GCU coach Russ Pennell. “They’re a hard team to play against. With their style of play, they’ll lull you to sleep and try to get the score down in the 40s. Up there, we struggled with them. We’ll have to do a nice job and be ready. They’re deceptive, especially when you look at their record.”
