Grand Canyon University women’s basketball coach Trent May has added three April signees to the 2010-11 recruiting class.
Former local stars Jazmyn Foster (Phoenix, Ariz./Thunderbird/New Mexico State) and Stevie Kamp (Mesa, Ariz./Mountain View/Nova Southeastern) and California’s Joslynn Frazier (Sacramento, Calif./Burbank/College of Canyons) have all signed national letters-of-intent and will join November early signees Maylinn Smith (Gilbert, Ariz./Mesquite) and Jenna Pearson (Gilbert, Ariz./Christian).
Foster, a 5-6 sophomore, won three Class 4A state titles (2002, 2003 and 2005) while at ![]()
“I can’t wait to step out on the court next season. I’m excited to be a Lope!” Foster said.
She signed and played one season (2006-07) at Division I New Mexico State where she started 11 of 15 games played.
“We’re really excited to get a fierce competitor and someone who is used to winning championships, like she did in high school, and someone that has played at the Division I level,” said May. “She wants to win and is willing to do what it takes to help along that avenue.”
Kamp, a 5-11 junior-to-be from Mesa, is transferring to GCU after playing two seasons at Division II Nova Southeastern in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

“I’m excited about turning another page in my book and glad it’s with Grand Canyon,” Kamp said. “The coaches, players, the atmosphere and being close to home are exactly what I’m looking for and makes transferring that much easier.”
At Mountain View, Kamp earned All-East Valley Tribune Defensive Player of the Year and Most Improved honors as a sophomore and junior. She also played on a state runner-up team.
She comes from an athletic family. Her brother Harper plays basketball at University of California-Berkeley and another brother, Sam, has verbally committed to play football in the fall of 2011 at University of Oregon.
“We are fortunate to get Stevie here at GCU,” said May. “We really liked her out of high school and we know this will be a great fit. She played at Mesa Mountain View where she was well-coached (by Henry Bribiescas) and won a lot of games. Stevie brings a competitiveness that is rarely matched. We look forward to her making an impact the day she steps on campus.” ![]()
Frazier, a 6-0 forward, will have two years of eligibility left after a pair of outstanding seasons at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, Calif. She averaged 14.3 points and 12.0 rebounds per game and had a 28-point performance in a contest against Bakersfield College.
“I am happy I am coming to GCU,” said Frazier. “I’m excited to be a part of a successful program and I’m ready to put in the work so that I can be successful. I can’t wait to see what next year has in store.”
She was named to the Western State All-Conference team and was the league’s player of the week for Jan. 19, 2010.
“Joslynn will add serious toughness to our lineup,” said May. “She’s athletic and runs the floor well. She’s a hard worker and we will be expecting great things from her.”
GCU has won three of the last four Pacific West Conference titles and coach May, in only three seasons at the helm, is the program's all-time winningest coach with a 54-30 (64.3 percent) mark.
