GCU Women's Tennis Team Tops Last Year's Record

The Lady Tennis 'Lopes topped last years' record with their 12th win of the season. GCU defeated Western New Mexico University in dramatic fashion. After earning the lead, 2-1, after doubles play, WNMU was able to win three out of the next four matches to get a 4-3 edge.
Four hours after the start of the match, GCU earned the victory when freshman Kaila Knopf won, 7-5, in the third set. And, to top it off, the match was played in 40-miles-per-hour wind in Pueblo, Colo.
The girls did a great job on the road in some tough conditions. Even though we beat WNMU, 9-0, a week ago, I knew it was going to be tougher today. Knopf should really be proud of herself for staying tough in the third set after losing the second set and the momentum. She played like an upperclassman
