HILO, Hawaii -- A second half rally led to a win, an eight-game win streak and first place in the Pacific West Conference.
Trailing 37-27 at halftime, Grand Canyon came from behind to defeate Hawai'i Hilo 83-68 Saturday.
Along with continuing a winning streak, GCU improved to 5-0 in the PacWest and 12-6 overall.
Junior Rosalyn Nelson had 18 points, seven assists and became the school's all-time leader in field goals made. Sophomore Samantha Murphy (pictured) had 20 points and four steals. Junior Stacy Haddow scored 13 points to go with seven rebounds and six assists.
GCU shot 70 percent in the second half.
The win, combined with Hawaii Pacific's loss to Dixie State, puts the Antelopes in sole possession of first place.
In the second half, GCU began trimming the deficit immediately and by the 13-minute mark, on a basket by Ashley Sparks, took the lead for good.
The Lopes outscored Hilo 56-31 in the final 20 minutes. GCU takes on Hawaii Pacific Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. HT.
