Murphy, Purnell named to PacWest Honor Roll

Grand Canyon University junior guard Samantha Murphy (Phoenix, Ariz./Xavier Prep) and senior guard Shareka Purnell (pictured, Dale City, Va./C.D. Hylton/UALR) were selected to the PacWest Women's Basketball Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll for games played Dec. 7-13.
Murphy led the PacWest in scoring for the week with a 21.5 average. She shot 53.8 percent from the field, fourth best and led the conference in 3-pointers made per game (3.0).
She was tied for fifth in 3-point shooting (42.9 percent), making 6-of-14 and tied for sixth in free-throw shooting at 75 percent (9-of-12). Murphy was also second in blocked shots per game (1.5) and tied for second in steals per game (2.5).
Purnell led the PacWest in assist average (5.5), steal average (3.5) and assist/turnover ratio (2.2). She averaged 5.5 points and tied for seventh in rebounds per game (7.0).
GCU went 1-1 on the week. The 'Lopes are off until a Dec. 28 contest with Western Washington in San Diego.
