Sara Dalgliesh was named the PacWest Women's Basketball Scholar Athlete of the Year.
Dalgliesh, a senior from Grangeville, Idaho, carried a 3.77 in elementary education. She was preparing to do her student teaching.
A 6-foot-3 center, Dalgliesh led the PacWest in field goal shooting at 55.1 percent. She averaged 9.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game. Dalgliesh scored a career-high 31 points against Chaminade on Jan. 25, 2008.
Dalgliesh, who transferred two years ago from Columbia Basin College, was named PacWest Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks during January.
Dalgliesh was one of three Grand Canyon student-athletes named Scholar Athletes in their respective sports. GCU had 20 student-athletes who received academic all-conference awards. A student-athlete had to be in their second year of competition at the school, carry at least a 3.3 cumulative grade point average, participate as a starter or primary regular in over half of the team's games or would have competed in half of the games if not for injury.
Grand Canyon University's student-athletes compiled a 3.064 grade point average, which ranked second in the PacWest for 2007-08.
