Nechunaev Wins National Award

Grand Canyon University’s Ivan Nechunaev (Tomsk, Russia , Tomsk National University) has been named the Counsilman-Hunsaker National Collegiate Division II Swimmer of the Week, for the week of Nov. 16-22, as announced by CollegeSwimming.com.
Nechunaev captured the award after winning all four of his individual events at the Trinity Invitational in Dallas, Texas this past weekend. He set NCAA B cut times in the 500 free (4:38.44) and 100 fly (50.99). Nechunaev also improved his B cut time in the 200 fly (1:53.40) and was a member of GCU’s winning 400 medley and 400 free relay teams.
This is Nechunaev’s third award this season, having twice captured the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week award.
The GCU swimming teams will return to the pool from Dec. 3-5, where they will compete in the Husky Invitational in Seattle, Wash.
