GCU Drops Match to Dixie State

The Lady ‘Lopes were looking for a win to honor their two seniors, Megan Toth (Phoenix, AZ/Arcadia) and Tommyka Henry (Phoenix, AZ/Alhambra, Mesa Community College) who celebrated their careers at GCU. The Red Storm came out strong and beat the ‘Lopes 16-25 in the first set and again 19-25 in the second.
In the third GCU led the entire set until Dixie State tied it up 19-19. After a tough battle, the Red Storm pulled out a third set win 23-25.
Sophomore Erica Ehlo (Spokane, WA/Lewis and Clark) led the ‘Lopes with seven kills, one service ace and seven digs. Seniors Toth and Henry had six kills each. Freshman Jessica Posse (Rancho Cucamonga, CA/Rancho Cucamonga) had 25 assists and six digs.
Junior Laurann Durbin (Phoenix, AZ/Sunnyslope) with 18 digs today now has over 1,700 career digs (1,706) and broke her previous record for digs in a single season with 592. Senior Megan Toth with five digs has passed the 600 mark for career digs, 603.
The ‘Lopes will face Dixie State again tomorrow at 4 p.m. at Antelope Gymnasium.
