'Lopes Lose Final Match of Season

The Grand Canyon University women’s volleyball team battled hard but lost 1-3 to Dixie State College in the second match of the two match series at Antelope Gymnasium.
GCU came back with a will to fight after losing 0-3 the previous night. The first set was a battle with the lead continually bouncing back and forth between the two teams before Dixie State was able to pull ahead with a 22-25 win.
The ‘Lopes fought back and won the second set. Dixie State had eight attacking errors, four serving errors and three serve receive errors. GCU took advantage and came back with 10 kills and three aces to win the set 25-23.
After an exciting second set, GCU dropped the next two 12-25 and 22-25 to lose the match 1-3.
Despite the loss, junior middle Stephanie McBride (Newbury Park, CA/Newbury Park, The Master's College) hit .478 for the night and led the team with 14 kills, two block assists, and two service aces. Sophomore Erica Ehlo (Spokane, WA/Lewis and Clark) had nine kills and 16 digs with one service ace. Junior Laurann Durbin (Phoenix, AZ, Sunnyslope) had 24 digs giving her 616 for the season and 1,730 for her career. Freshman Jessica Posse (Rancho Cucamonga, CA/Rancho Cucamonga) had 31 assists, 13 digs and two service aces.
