The Grand Canyon University women's soccer team, ranked No. 6 in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America NCAA Division II West Region poll, lost to Hawaii Pacific, 2-1, in overtime tonight at the GCU Soccer Field.
The Antelopes fell to 7-3-1 overall, 5-2-1 in the Pacific West Conference, while the Sea Warriors improved to 3-7-0, 3-4-0.
Sophomore forward KaUa Wall scored HPU's first goal in the 31st minute off of an assist from sophomore midfielder Amber Fuller. There was a scramble for the ball in the corner, Fuller crossed it and Wall put it past the keeper.

Jessica Scarpati (Las Vegas, NV/Shadow Ridge) tied the score at 1 in the 31st minute. There was a direct kick from the corner. Sophomore midfielder
Sasha Scott (West Hills, CA/El Camino Real) crossed it and Scarpati got her head on it.
Sophomore forward Meghan Fuller won the match for the Sea Warriors in the 98th minute. Junior midfielder Chloe Maeshiro crossed the ball from the right side, there was a scramble and Fuller found the back of the net.
GCU had a 14-8 edge in shots in the game, as well as an 8-0 edge in corner kicks. Twenty-two fouls were called, 12 of which were against the 'Lopes.
Both goalkeepers, GCU junior
Stephanie Phillips (Tempe, AZ/Corona del Sol, Washington State University) and HPU sophomore Yasmina Taketa, were outstanding. Taketa, normally a midfielder/forward who was filling in for junior Carrianne Makino, who was issued two yellow cards and a red card in Monday's game, recorded five saves.
