GCU drops two in Santa Cruz

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. -- Grand Canyon University dropped a pair of men's volleyball matches at UC Santa Cruz Saturday.
The Antelopes (0-4) lost to host UC Santa Cruz 3-0 by set scores of 30-28, 31-29, 30-24. GCU lost to University of Pacific 3-0 by scores of 30-19, 30-24, 40-28.
GCU sophomore Brock Hutchins (Gilbert, Ariz./Highland/Hawaii) had 16 kills, tying his school-mark set Friday for most kills in a three-set match, against UC Santa Cruz. He added two service aces.
Freshman Trent Bruns (Mission Viejo, Calif./Mission Viejo) had 13 digs. Freshman setter Brad Moore (Orange, Calif./Lutheran) had 25 assists. Freshman Robbie Brannick (Minooka, Ill./Minooka) added eight kills. Freshmen Zach Neilson (Phoenix, Ariz./Sandra Day O'Connor) and Chris Lockwood (pictured, Lakewood, Calif./Lakewood) each had two solo blocks.
Against Pacific, Lockwood and Hutchins each had 11 kills. Moore had 32 assists. Brannick had six kills and two solo blocks. Freshman Connor Dougherty (Aurora, Ill./Wabonise) had six kills. Hutchins led the Antelopes with five digs.
