GCU loses to Fort Lewis in Grand Canyon Classic

Grand Canyon women's basketball team dropped an 80-56 decision to Fort Lewis Friday in the Grand Canyon Classic at Antelope Gym.
The Antelopes (1-2) will try to rebound in Saturday's 4 p.m. game with Western New Mexico (0-3). No. 10 UC San Diego (4-0) beat WNMU 61-42 in the first game of the Classic. San Diego will play Fort Lewis (3-0) at 2 p.m.
Grand Canyon's Ashley Hardin (pictured) had 14 points, seven rebounds, two assists and a steal, and Samantha Murphy had 11 points, a steal and an assist.
The Antelopes trailed 42-28 at halftime following a 10 for 28 field goal shooting effort. Fort Lewis canned 58.6 percent of its shots in the first half.
Grand Canyon committed 22 turnovers, while Fort Lewis had 17. Fort Lewis went 11 of 11 from the line, while GCU hit 13 of 21 of shots from the stripe.
GCU's Rosalyn Nelson had 10 points, six assists and five rebounds. Sara Dalgliesh had eight points and four boards. Fort Lewis picked up 18 points and five boards from Eva Duce, and Katie Bodaness and Audrey George each had 12 points.
Five players reached double figures for Fort Lewis, which hit 32 of 56 (57.1 percent) of its shots.
