LAIE, HI -- Grand Canyon dropped its second straight match at its PacWest road trip in Hawai'i Wednesday.
The Antelopes (13-11, 6-4) lost 3-0 to conference unbeaten BYU-Hawai'i (13-5, 10-0).
GCU struggled, losing by set scores of 25-14, 25-15, 25-18.
The team hit just .113. Junior Heather Baron had seven kills. Senior Shauna Niemann had six and hit .267. She also had two blocks.
Sophomore Katie Meyers had 21 assists and six digs. Freshman Laurann Durbin had 14 digs.
BYU hit .594 in the first set and finished with a .330 attack percentage.
The Antelopes trailed the entire first set. In the second set they took a 1-0 lead on a kill from junior Jenna Skadeland and regained the lead at 3-2 on a block from Whitney Estes (pictured).
In the third set, GCU went on a 6-1 run to take a 7-5 lead. Sophomore Brooke Baker served for four straight points and Estes and junior Dana Edington each had kills.
A Niemann kill, a block from Meyers and Niemann and a kill from Baron upped the advantage to 11-7, the biggest lead of the night, but the Lopes couldn't hold it.
BYU regained the lead at 15-14. The Antelopes tied it at 16-16, but the hosts followed with a 9-1 run.
