GCU drops match to No. 13 Ohio State

GCU (1-7, 0-2) lost by game scores of 30-23, 30-16, 30-22 to the No. 13 team in the nation.
The Antelopes were led by sophomore Brock Hutchins (pictured, Gilbert, Ariz./Highland/Hawai'i) with 12 kills, one solo block and one block assist. Freshman setter Brad Moore (Orange, Calif./Lutheran) had 32 assists and frosh libero Trent Bruns (Mission Viejo, Calif./Mission Viejo) had a team-high seven digs.
Following a kill from freshman Connor Dougherty (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley), GCU had a brief 5-4 first-set lead, but the Buckeyes (3-4, 2-0) rallied to take the set and rode the momentum to take the final two.
The teams meet again Saturday at 5 p.m.
Sophomore Nick Jensen (Herning, Denmark/Ikast Gymnasium/NJIT) had four kills, a block assist and .286 attack percentage. Dougherty finished with six kills, a solo block and two block assists. Sophomore Taylor Griffin (Tucson, Ariz./Ironwood Ridge) had three kills and four digs.
In one set of action, freshman Tyler Capko (Las Vegas, Nev./Palo Verde) had three kills.
