GCU won by set scores of 25-20, 25-15, 25-23.
Junior Megan Toth (Phoenix, Ariz./Arcadia) led with 12 kills. Toth had a .370 attack percentage. Senior Jenna Skadeland (Williston, N.D./Williston) had eight kills, a .462 attack average and five blocked assists.
Sophomore Laurann Durbin (Phoenix, Ariz./Sunnyslope) had 13 digs, while freshman Kristen Preach (Phoenix, Ariz./Xavier Prep) had 30 assists.
Fourteen players saw action in the win over the Phoenix NAIA school.
It was the first collegiate action for freshmen Erica Ehlo (Spokane, Wash./Lewis and Clark) and Emily Draper (Phoenix, Ariz./Central). Ehlo (No. 15 pictured with Skadeland) had three kills.
Senior Whitney Estes (Gardnerville, Nev./Douglas) had six kills. Freshman Caelen Hiller (Phoenix, Ariz./Sunnyslope) added five kills. Toth had two service aces. Sophomore Lisa Ramirez (Peoria, Ariz./Peoria) had seven digs.
