GCU lost by set scores of 25-16, 25-17, 25-18.
Senior Dana Edington (Peoria, Ariz./Centennial) had a team-high eight kills and added seven digs and three block assists. Junior Megan Toth (Phoenix, Ariz./Arcadia), pictured, had six kills and 10 digs. Senior Jenna Skadeland (Williston, N.D./Williston) had six kills, two solo blocks and one block assist.
GCU had leads in each set. The Lopes (6-1) were up 7-6 in the first and 6-5 in the third. In the second set, GCU had a 17-16 lead, but SPU scored the final nine points.
Freshman Kristen Preach (Phoenix, Ariz./Xavier Prep) had 23 assists. Senior Whitney Estes (Gardnerville, Nev./Douglas) had four block assists. Sophomore libero Laurann Durbin (Phoenix, Ariz./Sunnyslope) had 10 digs.
