No. 22 GCU falls in second OT to No. 12 Sonoma
ROHNERT PARK, Calif. -- No. 12 Sonoma State's Stuart Gallant scored in the sixth minute (106th overall) of the second overtime to hand No. 22 Grand Canyon its first loss of the season, 2-1, at Seawolf Soccer Field Friday.
The Lopes were outshot 25-7, but GCU goalkeeper Ben Paneccasio had 12 saves.
GCU trailed 1-0 until Kyle Ciliento (pictured) scored in the 55th minute. It was the Phoenix native's third goal of the season and the Lopes only shot on goal.
Sonoma State improves to 2-0. GCU drops to 1-1.
The Lopes take on UC San Diego at Seawolf Soccer Field Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
