HONOLULU -- With a two game lead and only four games remaining in the Pacific West Conference, Grand Canyon returns home in the driver's seat for its first bid into the NCAA tournament and third straight PacWest title.
The Lady Lopes (15-6, 8-0) finished off a four-game road trip in Hawaii with a 90-53 victory over Chaminade Saturday.
Three of the final four conference games are at home. GCU has a two-game lead in the loss column over Dixie State and Hawai'i Pacific and three-game lead over BYU-Hawaii. It still has games against all three teams.
For the first time in three years, the PacWest regular-season champ has an automatic bid into the NCAA West Regional.
Against Chaminade, Stacy Haddow led the way with 19points. Dana Iverson and Samantha Murphy each had 16.
Off the bench, Jacque Stevens (pictured) added 10 points.
Ashley Sparks had eight points and seven rebounds.
With Chaminade staying close -- GCU was leading 9-8 -- the Lopes went on an 18-2 run and had control the rest of the way. Eight different players had field goals during the game-deciding seven minutes.
The Lopes play their next three conference games at Antelope Gym, where they haven't lost all season. Hawai'i Pacific is in town Wednesday for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
