Nelson named honorable mention player of the month

Grand Canyon junior guard Rosalyn Nelson earned honorable mention for the WBCA Division II National Player of the Month award for January, released today by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.
Nelson helped lead the Lopes to a 7-0 record to start the 2009 portion of the season. For the month, she averaged 17.3 points, 5.9 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 3.7 steals.
Nelson and the Lopes are back in action tonight at BYU-Hawaii for a 5:30 p.m. HT tip-off.
Texas A&M-Commerce guard Brittney Jordan was named the player of the month.
Jordan averaged 32.3 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 1.2 assists.
