The 'Lopes (21-8, 10-6) won by set scores of 25-9, 25-8, 25-17.
The winning streak equals the two nine-straight streaks during the 1999 season. There have only been two longer streaks in school history. The 1993 team won 12 in a row and the 1989 squad ran off 11 straight. The 21 wins are the most since the 1999 team went 25-7.
In Saturday's win, freshman Erica Ehlo (pictured, Spokane, Wash./Lewis and Clark) had 13 kills, 10 digs and three service aces. Sophomore libero Laurann Durbin (Phoenix, Ariz./Sunnyslope) had 22 digs to add to her single-season record of 584.
Durbin has 1,114 for her career and is 5th all-time. She will go into next season only eight back of No. 4 Krista Jacob (2001-04).
Freshman Setter Kristen Preach (Phoenix, Ariz./Xavier Prep) had 36 assists to go over the 1,000 mark (1,005) for the season.
Senior Dana Edington (Peoria, Ariz./Centennial) had nine kills and two block assists. She finishes her career No. 4 on the all-time kill list with 1,032.
GCU had a .438 attack percentage for the match. It hit .579 in the first set and .571 in the second. Senior Whitney Estes (Gardnerville, Nev./Douglas) had seven kills and three block assists. Freshman Shelby Taylor (Phoenix, Ariz./Christian) had seven kills and five block assists. Senior Vicky Bauler (Phoenix, Ariz./Agua Fria) had two service aces.
The 10-6 record in the Pacific West Conference is GCU's best since rejoining the league in 2006.
