Grand Canyon University women's tennis team beat Notre Dame de Namur 9-0 Tuesday in St. George, Utah.
"The entire team played well and earned another historic conference and Division II win for a GCU team that's pointing the program in a new direction," coach Greg Prudhomme said.
A 10-game pro set format was used in singles matches because NDNU had a match immediately following the one with GCU.
GCU's Marie-Caroline Legros (pictured) beat Sally Olson 10-1 at No. 1 singles. Stefanie Griffin beat Lauren Quach 10-4 at No. 2. Stephanie Haldeman beat Ashley Wilson 10-0 at No. 3. Emily Rios beat Katelyn Mills 10-1 at No. 4. Sheila Johnson beat Britnie Rathke 10-1 at No. 5. Amanda Jackson won by default at No. 6.
GCU's Legros and Griffin defeated Wilson and Quach 8-1 at No. 1 doubles. Haldeman and Johnson beat Mills and Olson 8-2 at No. 2. Rios and Jackson won by default at No. 3 pairs.
GCU will play No. 1 nationally-ranked BYU-Hawaii at 9 a.m. and Chaminade at 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. George.
