Nicole Peterson joined the Grand Canyon women's volleyball coaching staff in April of 2023 after three years as a volunteer assistant coach at Arizona State and four seasons as a Sun Devil student-athlete.
Peterson graduated from Arizona State in 2020 with a degree in Fashion and a focus on Technology. On the court, Peterson primarily contributed as a setter in each of her four seasons at ASU, but she also saw time as a pin hitter. She led the Sun Devils in assists in 2017 and 2018, and she was second in 2016 and 2019. Additionally, Peterson earned many double-doubles throughout her career, including a team-high 10 in 2018. She earned Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention for the 2018 season.
Prior to ASU, Peterson played volleyball and tennis in Portland, Oregon, at Jesuit High School. She earned numerous prep accolades, including 2015 Max Preps National Player of the Year, 2015 High School All-American and 2015 Oregon Gatorade Player of the Year. In 2014 and 2015, she was named the Oregon Player of the Year, Metro League Player of the Year and State Championship MVP. She led her team to state titles in 2012, 2014 and 2015.
