Tyler Hagstrom is in his first year as assistant coach with the Grand Canyon women's volleyball team in 2015. On the court, he will primarily work with the Lopes on the defensive side, and will assist with the breakdown of film, scouting opponents and is heavily involved in the evaluation and recruiting of student-athletes.
Hagstrom came to the Lopes after spending two years (2013-14 seasons) as assistant coach at UC Irvine. With the Anteaters, he oversaw the team defensive strategy and assisted with opponent scouting while also managing team travel and expenses. He was also the head coach for Prime Volleyball Club and for the boy's and girl's program at Pacifica High School. He has also been head coach for Saddleback Volleyball Club and Surf City Girls Volleyball Club. Among his assistant coaching roles, Hagstrom aided the HBC Boys Volleyball Club to a 17-1 record and No. 1 ranking in the nation in 2013.
A starting libero for three NAIA national championship teams, Hagstrom played collegiately at California Baptist, where he broke the school single-season dig record in 2005.
Hagstrom graduated from California Baptist in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in business marketing and a minor in Spanish. He and his wife, Nina, reside in Scottsdale, Ariz.
