Erin Scholz is in her second season as an assistant coach for the GCU women's basketball program. She joined the Antelopes after previously serving as the head women's basketball coach at Fresno Pacific University from 2010-13. Prior to that, she was an assistant at Utah State University from 2006-10.
Scholz played professionally with the Colorado Chill of the National Women's Basketball League (NWBL), helping the Chill win two NWBL Pro Cup Championships in 2005 and 2006. She then went to Perth, Australia where she helped lead the Lakeside Lightning of the Western Australia State Basketball League to the SBL Championship.
Scholz was an outstanding student-athlete at the University of Colorado from 1993-97, where she currently ranks second on the Buffaloes career rebounds list with 1,067 and fifth on the career points list with 1,621. She was the first player in the school's history to record more than 500 points, 200 rebounds and 50 assists in a single season. Her success as a player helped fuel Colorado to three conference tournament titles and four NCAA Tournament appearances, including two trips to the Sweet Sixteen and a run all the way to the Elite Eight on the 1994-95 team that finished 30-3.  Scholz also played four years with USA Basketball throughout her college career. She represented the United States as a member of two Olympic Festival teams, the 1995 USA Jones Cup team that captured the bronze medal in Taipai, Taiwan, and the USA Select Team (1996) coached by current University of Connecticut Head Coach, Geno Auriemma.
In both 1992 and 1993, Scholz was the Colorado High School Player of the Year, and in 1993 was chosen Colorado Sportswoman-of-the-Year along with being named as a Kodak and Parade All-American.  Scholz’s faith in Jesus Christ is central to who she is. Scholz is a frequent speaker in churches and schools, and has spoken at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes National College Conference, as well as for college staff and undergrad chapels.
