Scott Lucas enters his first year with GCU as a graduate assistant for Coach Matt Werle.
Lucas has an abundance of experience when it comes to coaching and volleyball. Most recently he has served as Head Coach for Los Gatos High School boys’ volleyball team in Los Gatos, California. While there he helped build and develop the boy’s program at all three levels, created and maintained a workout plan, nutrition schedule and skills training and ran a full volleyball university education program designed to give further insight into the game.
He also served as head coach for the Mountain View Volleyball Club in Sunnyvale, California in 2016 as well as the Lead Coach for Athletes of Purpose. In Sunnyvale he coached 15 and 16 year olds in summer and fall programs while teaching them fundamentals and a passion for the game. He also helped athletes on a 12 week program that focused on mobility, explosiveness, speed and neuromuscular connection.
Lucas earned his Bachelor Degree at Arizona State University where he also served as player, coach and president of Arizona State Men’s Volleyball Club from 2006-2010. He was the head coach from 2009-2010 and was in charge of coordinating, running and scheduling all practices. In 2009 he helped ASU to the Mountain West League Championship as a player and coach. To top off his playing career, Lucas notched Top 10 finishes at Nationals in 2007, 2009 and 2010.
