Joel Taylor begins his first year as assistant coach at Grand Canyon University. Taylor was an assistant at Northwest Missouri State for one year, helping the Bearcats get off to a school-record 17-0 start en route to the best record in school history at 29-3. Northwest Missouri St. won the conference championship and conference tournament, advancing to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight for the first time in school history. Taylor was the head coach at Colorado Northwestern Community College for one year and two years as an assistant at Eastern Wyoming College, which won two region and two league titles.
Tayjor played for two years at Northwest Missouri State, advancing to the NCAA Division II Sweet 16. His team was ranked No. 5 in the nation. The Bearcats went 47-14 during his two-year playing career. He played for two years at Eastern Wyoming College, going 46-22 at the NJCAA Division I level. Taylor was a First Team all-conference selection, and was part of a conference championship. An All-State player in Utah, Taylor was born in Delta, Utah.
