Lopes set for 2nd MW season with home debuts, new members, historic matchups
The Mountain West announced its 2027 baseball conference schedule on Wednesday, outlining a nine-series slate for Grand Canyon that features new league opponents, former conference rivalries and a return to Hawai'i for the program's first conference games of the season.
GCU will open MW play March 25–27 at Hawai'i, marking the Rainbow Warriors' first season in the conference after transitioning from the Big West. The series also will renew a long-dormant matchup between the programs, who have not met since 1998.
The Lopes' first home conference series is set for April 2–4 against San José State at Brazell Field at GCU Ballpark. The homestand continues the following weekend, April 9–11, when GCU hosts UC Davis. The Aggies enter the Mountain West from the Big West and will make their first trip to Phoenix since 2004. The teams last met in 2017 in Davis.
GCU will then travel to familiar territory April 16–18 with a series at Utah Tech in St. George, Utah. The matchup reunites former WAC foes and marks Utah Tech's first season in the MW as an affiliate baseball member.
After a bye weekend, the Lopes return home April 30–May 2 to host Nevada before heading back on the road for consecutive series at UNLV (May 7–9) and Air Force (May 14–16).
The Lopes close the regular season May 20–22 at home against New Mexico before the MW Championship. Tentative dates for the championship are May 27–30.

The 2027 slate continues to build on GCU's momentum in the Mountain West, blending new rivalries with familiar opponents as the Lopes pursue a conference championship and postseason berth.
