GCU takes perfect record into conference play

Grand Canyon and New Mexico kick off Mountain West play with a three-game set in Albuquerque.

The Lopes are unanimously ranked in the Top 25 across all major softball polls. (23 in ESPN/USA Softball, 21 in Softball America, 17 in NFCA, & 22 in D1Softball.) They have the best record in the nation.
GCU has won 14 straight road games dating back to last season.
Sophomore left-hander Oakley Vickers took home MW Pitcher of the Week for week 5, after going 1-0 with a save and 1.20 ERA over 11.2 innings pitched. Vickers holds the best record in the conference at 8-0.
Grand Canyon has the only pitching staff in the nation with five pitchers at three or more wins, as well as an ERA under 1.50.
The Lopes are one of three undefeated teams in the nation. Tennessee (1) is 24-0, as is Alabama (6) at 24-0.

This will be the 7th-9th matchups between GCU and New Mexico, with the all-time record in favor of the Lopes at 5-1. Grand Canyon is 4-1 at home against the Lobos and has never played in Albuquerque.
The Lobos are 12-13 on the season as they enter conference play. New Mexico lost in run-rule fashion at New Mexico State on Tuesday.
New Mexico is hitting .256 with a team ERA of 3.72.
Lobos infielder Miracle McKenzie won Mountain West Player of the Week after a four-homer weekend at home last week.

SAN DIEGO CLASSIC

GCU went 5-0 in the San Diego Classic in week 5, beating four teams including Wisconsin in extra innings, to move to 27-0.
Addison Shifflett, catcher Tinley Lucas and outfielder Trinity Martin hit back-to-back-to-back home runs in the sixth inning to come back and beat Princeton.
Grand Canyon trailed in four of the five games on the weekend, finding a way to win each and extend the program-record 27-game win streak.

WHAT'S NEXT?

GCU returns home with a massive midweek matchup with 15th-ranked Oklahoma State and a series with San José State.
