GCU sits half-game back of Colorado State, New Mexico for 3rd in MW standings

Looking to keep momentum after a 13-point victory over first-place San Diego State, Grand Canyon heads north to Colorado and takes on Air Force for the first time this season at 1 p.m. Saturday.

AT A GLANCE

GCU snapped first-place San Diego State's 13-game winning streak Wednesday, defeating the Aztecs 57-44. It was the second straight game holding a team under 50 points, doing so for the first time since Nov. 24-25, 2023.
Coming off an 18-point performance vs. San Diego State, Lopes guard Chloe Mann extended her double-digit scoring streak to four games, moving her season total to 18 such contests. The sophomore is the team's leading scorer at 13.3 points per game and now has 305 points on the season, surpassing her 237 scored her freshman season at Cincinnati in 2024-25.
The Lopes have tallied five or more blocks in six of its last seven games. GCU had four games with five or more blocks prior to Jan. 14 and are averaging 4.7 per game since that date.
GCU ran away with the victory in the fourth quarter against San Diego State, outscoring them 24-11 while shooting 60% as a team in that quarter. The Lopes are outscoring Mountain West opponents 231-189 in the fourth quarter this season.
Lopes seniors Anisa Jeffries and junior Julianna LaMendola each grabbed eight rebounds Wednesday against the Aztecs. LaMendola leads the squad with 7.1 rebounds per game against MW schools, with Jeffries right behind her at 6.0. The duo has combined to pull down 34% of the team's conference rebounds.
With the Mountain West Championship beginning March 7 in Las Vegas, GCU sits in good position to challenge for a top-four spot, which earns a first-round bye. The Lopes are a half-game back of Colorado State (two losses) and New Mexico (one win) for fourth and are three games ahead of Fresno State, which is in seventh.

Winners of three straight and six of its last eight, GCU concludes the week at Air Force for a 1 p.m. tip-off on the Mountain West Network.
A victory would set a season high for wins in a row this season for the Lopes, who enter Saturday fifth in the conference standings and half a game back of New Mexico and Colorado State in fourth.
GCU is 4-2 in conference road games this season.

SCOUTING AIR FORCE

Air Force enters with a 10-12 record and 4-8 Mountain West showing. It is in ninth place in the MW standings.
Winners of two straight, Air Force is 5-4 at home with a most recent 23-point victory over Utah State Wednesday.
Milahnie Perry is second in the league in points per game (16.9), third in free throws made (75) and seventh in field goal percentage (40%).
Jayda McNabb is one of the best rebounders in the league, averaging 8.5 per contest to rank third. She is also the conference leader in offensive rebounds per game (4.6).
As a team, Air Force is third in the conference in offensive rebounds per game (12.5) and steals per game (9.2).
The Falcons have totaled 202 steals this season, compared to opponents' 169. It also has 67 fewer turnovers on the season than its opponents.
