Grand Canyon right fielder
Addison Shifflett was awarded Mountain West Freshman of the Week for Week 2 of the softball season.

Shifflett was highly touted out of Liberty Hill (Texas) High School with GCU head coach
Shanon Hays raving of Shifflett's skills and promise before she stepped foot on campus.
The freshman appeared in three of the five opening-week wins but did not make a start. In this weekend's GCU Invite, Shifflett was given that opportunity and took advantage to help the Lopes to a 10-0 start.
"Shifty" delivered three multi-hit games over the weekend, including a three-hit performance against Northern Colorado that included her first home run of many to come.
The three-run shot broke a 0-0 tie in the second inning, and the Lopes never looked back.
Although a small sample size, Shifflett leads the team in batting average at .438 and projects to be a steady force in the middle of the Lopes lineup.
Shifflett and Grand Canyon will be back in action for six more games at GCU Softball Stadium by Sunday. The action begins with a standalone Thursday night matchup against San Diego.
