After a six-point week at home for GCU with wins over San José State and Nevada, the Lopes took home two weekly Mountain West awards. Senior
Ellie Johannes won Player of the Week, while
Lia D'Afonseca took home the MW Freshman of the Week award.

Johannes put the Grand Canyon offensive attack on her back during the 2-0 week, earning her first career hat trick in Thursday's 3-1 win over Nevada, before assisting the lone and game-winning goal in Sunday's 1-0 victory over San José State.
In Thursday's match, the senior from Glendale and Northwest Christian high school had her first career brace within the first ten minutes of the match, before earning the hat trick in the second half.
Johannes leads the team in goals (6) and points (16) after her three goal and one assist week helped launch the Lopes right back into the MW standings mix.

D'Afonseca earns her first collegiate hardware after one of the best weeks of her young career winning MW Freshman of the Week.
The St. Charles, Missouri native started both matches on the undefeated week, becoming a mainstay in the midfield for GCU. She earned her second assist of the season, when her through ball led to
Sophia Rubano's game-winning goal over SJSU on Sunday.
D'Afonseca is sixth on the team in minutes despite just starting six matches all season, with her role growing week in and week out as the Lopes approach the end of the season.
GCU has just four matches remaining on the year and sit just two spots out of the top four in the MW Standings. That top four will make the MW Championships at GCU Stadium.
