Grand Canyon restored its home success with a 76-58 conference victory against San José State on Saturday night at Global Credit Union Arena.
The Lopes (10-5, 3-1 Mountain West) never trailed against the injury-depleted Spartans (5-11, 0-5 MW), taking a 17-point lead in the first half and never allowing the lead to leave double digits for the remainder.
Key player

GCU junior guard
Dusty Stromer hit 4 of 5 attempts from 3-point range in the half Saturday, setting a season high for 3s in a game in 10 first-half minutes of action.
Stromer was limited to 17 minutes off the bench because of an ankle sprain he suffered in the second half.
Key moment
San José State cut GCU's lead to 21-17 midway through the first half before not scoring on its next nine possessions, including not putting a ball on the rim on the final four possessions of that stretch.
It was a 12-0 GCU run that started with one of Stromer's 3 and finished with one of senior guard
Jaden Henley's five steals for a breakaway slam and a 33-17 lead.
Key statistic
GCU moved to 6-0 this season when holding its opponent to less than 40% shooting from the field. San José State shot 36.5% from the field and did not get a point from its bench..
Quotable
Lopes head coach
Bryce Drew: "The 14 turnovers, we don't like. We love the 16 assists. Overall, I liked our eyes up and looking for our team. The turnovers were were more guys trying to pass to teammates. I'd rather live with those ones than ones where guys are just dribbling it."
What's next?
GCU will return to the Mountain West road for a Tuesday night game at New Mexico, where the Lobos are 10-1 at The Pit. New Mexico won 91-49 at Air Force on Saturday night to move to 13-3 overall and 4-1 in MW play.
