Grand Canyon assistant coach Julia Ford will serve as the women's U.S. team's head coach at the FIBA 3x3 Nations League Americas Conference in Punta Arenas, Chile.
The tournament begins Monday and runs through July 27 to serve as a qualification route for this year's FIBA 3x3 U23 World Cup. Conference winners will advance to the Sept. 17-21 event in Xiong An, China. The host nation's men and women will receive automatic qualification along with the reigning champions (Germany men and USA women). The remainder of the teams will come from each conference's winners and the next teams in FIBA 3x3 Nations League final standings.
Ford's USA Basketball experience spans nearly a decade, working with teams during summers since 2016. Her most recent national team coaching came at the USA Basketball 3X Nationals in Mesa in May, leading Team Chaos to victory over a pool of 16 squads.
This U.S. roster includes Taylor Bigby, Joyce Edwards, MiLaysia Fulwiley, Zee Spearman and Rachel Ullstrom. They joined Serena Sundell for Ford's Team Chaos with Fulwiley earning Most Valuable Player for the tournament.
The FIBA 3x3 Nations League action will stream live on the
FIBA3x3 YouTube channel.
