Finishing the 2024-25 season as one of the best 3-point shooters in the country, Grand Canyon senior guard
Alyssa Durazo-Frescas will showcase her long-range ability on the national stage in the Celsius Women's 3-Point Championship at the 36th annual State Farm College Slam Dunk and 3-point Championships on ESPN.
The event will be televised Thursday at 4 p.m. (Phoenix time) from Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas, the host city of the 2025 Men's Final Four.
Durazo-Frescas left her legacy after one season at GCU, making 124 3-point shots to set a new single-season program record. Through Monday's games, Durazo-Frescas ranks first in the nation in 3-pointers per game (3.9) and second in made 3s and 3-point percentage (46.4%). With five fewer games, her 124 3s trail only Madison Connor of TCU.
The Newport Beach, California, native broke a 26-year-old single-season WAC record, surpassing Becky Hammon's mark of 114 3s set with Colorado State in 1998-99. Durazo-Frescas had 16 games with four or more made 3-pointers and scored 20 or more points eight times for the Lopes, who set new Division I-era team records for 3-pointers made, 3-point percentage and field goal percentage.
The Lopes are used to the national spotlight in this championship event, as former GCU basketball standout Gabe McGlothan won the dunk contest last season on his home floor.
