Complete game shutout earns Lyon award

Lyon named WAC Pitcher of the Week for 2nd time this season
Grand Canyon junior right-handed pitcher Isaac Lyon was named the WAC Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season.
Lyon tossed a complete game shutout against Seattle U to lead the Lopes to a Friday night blowout victory.
"I think that might have been the best start of his career," Lopes head coach Gregg Wallis said following the game. "Everything was sharp. The fastball was moving, the slider, the cutter, the changeup. He was getting swing and miss on all four pitches, and he stayed strong in the eighth inning. He was still throwing 92 miles an hour. He's just been really good."
GCU scored its 10th run in the eighth inning to enact the mercy rule and make Lyon's outing a complete game.
Lyon scattered four hits and walked a pair while striking out eight batters.
Lyon was also named WAC Pitcher of the Week following a Friday night win at Texas State in early March.
