3 THINGS TO KNOW
- After a 13-hit opening weekend, GCU sophomore second baseman Savannah Kirk leads the nation in hits. Kirk also ranks third in the nation in stolen bases (seven).

Lopes junior pitcher Taryn Batterton threw the program's 10th no-hitter (ninth solo), in the Lopes' win over Colgate (8-0, 5 innings) on Friday. Batterton took home WAC Pitcher of the Week honors.

GCU (5-1) was ranked 10th in D1Softball.com's first-ever Mid-Major Top 25. The Lopes' one loss came to Wichita State, which is ranked fourth.
SCOUTING WEBER STATE (6 p.m. Thursday)
- Weber State is 3-2 after the first weekend with wins over UMass Lowell and Southern Illinois-Edwardsville. The Wildcats' two losses came against UTSA.
- GCU holds an 8-7Â record against Weber State, going 8-5 at home.
SCOUTING BELMONT (4 p.m. Friday)
- The Bruins enter the weekend with a 2-3 record, relying on stellar pitching through five games. Their staff has accumulated a sub-1.00 WHIP and limited opponents to .200 hitting.
- GCU has never played Belmont.
SCOUTING WASHINGTON (6:30 p.m. Friday)
- The Huskies enter with a 2-3 record. They faced ranked Alabama and Arizona in Tucson twice apiece, going 1-3 in those games.Â
- GCU has never beaten Washington, going 0-5 in previous meetings, all in Phoenix.
SCOUTING OREGON (4 p.m. Saturday)
- The Ducks are 5-0 and ranked No. 20 nationally. They lead the nation in batting average, on-base percentage, scoring and stolen bases.
- The Lopes are 0-2 all-time against Oregon, with both matchups at GCU. The Lopes lost 9-4 to Oregon when the Ducks visitied last season.
SCOUTING NORTH DAKOTA (6:30 p.m. Saturday)
- North Dakota enters the weekend with a 3-2 record. Their pitching staff holds the best ERA (1.85) among the Lopes' weekend opponents.
- GCU is 2-1 against the Fighting Hawks all-time, most recently with an 8-0 run-rule victory over North Dakota in Fullerton, California, last season.

- The Lopes went 5-1, run-ruling two opponents in six innings or fewer.
- GCU hammered four home runs when it swept an Opening Day home doubleheader against Northern Illinois, 5-2 and 9-4. Lopes senior outfielder Makaiya Gomez leads the WAC with three home runs.
- Grand Canyon's Taryn Batterton finsihed her no-hitter weekend with 11 2/3 scoreless innings and 12 strikeouts.
