GCU's MW play begins Wednesday at home vs. defending champ UNLV
Grand Canyon's final nonconference matchup of the season takes place Sunday at Global Credit Union Arena versus Santa Clara. It is the second of three straight home games, with UNLV on CBS Sports Network to follow at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
AT A GLANCE
- GCU sophomore guard Chloe Mann leads the team with 14.4 points per game and leads the Mountain West in free throw percentage (88.1%). Mann totaled 43 points last week in two games against Gonzaga and Saint Mary's, and enters Sunday sixth in the Mountain West in scoring. She is 37 of 42 from the free throw line this season and has missed only two free throws over her last five games (23 attempts).
- Lopes junior Julianna LaMendola has a team-high 51 rebounds this season, averaging 5.7 per contest with a 7.7 clip at home. LaMendola has pulled down at least four boards in all but one game this season, including five games with six or more rebounds. The Texas native notched eight rebounds last time out vs. Saint Mary's.Â
- The Lopes defense has forced 20 or more turnovers in each of their past four contests, averaging 23 forced turnovers per game in that span. GCU set an opponent season high when Saint Mary's made 26 turnovers.Â
- Graduate guard Ale'jah Douglas leads the squad with a 44.4% 3-point percentage. Douglas is second on the squad in total points, and she dished out five assists vs. Saint Mary's last Sunday, putting her second on the team in total assists this season.Â
